The idea and concept of the whole song is utterly dire and cheap. The whole thought of this song comes across as generic, tacky and just simply, awful, but strangely this is executed well enough that I didn't find it utterly horrible. | |

Dat dit een hit is geworden, mag geen verrassing heten. Het combineert verschillende elementen uit dance-muziek die de afgelopen tien jaar voor succes hebben gezorgd. Er is bijvoorbeeld die simpele housebeat met een 'dirty edge' die in de tweede helft van de 00's veel succes opleverde voor dj's als Fedde Le Grand, Mason ("Exceeder") en Bodyrox ("Yeah Yeah"). Vervolgens is er de verheffende, trance-achtige break met vocalen van Bieber die doet denken aan het optimisme dat Avicii de laatste jaren in zijn muziek verweeft in nummers als "Seek Bromance" en "Levels". Om het bij elkaar gejatte geheel te completeren is er een in het oog springende zinsnede die wel erg doet denken aan Daft Punk's "Harder Better Faster Stronger". Stop er een hashtag voor en je hebt anno 2013 een hit. Maar origineel is een woord dat je absoluut niet moet associëren met dit nummer - of überhaupt met recente producties van will.i.am. S.
